November 12, 2008: Washington, DC - Five-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter will extend her expressive talents to the print medium with a regular column to appear in the Show section of The Washington Times beginning Friday, November 21.

"Even though I no longer make my home in the District, I still consider myself a Washingtonian," said Mary Chapin. "It will feel good to be back, in words and ink at The Washington Times."
She writes in her inaugural column, “There were a few things I missed during the waning days of the presidential race because I was glued to the evening news: a few of the most beautiful autumn sunsets imaginable over the Blue Ridge Mountains, just west of our farm; lots of late day walks with canine friends who lay at my feet, heavily sighing with longing to run; toiling away upstairs in my office on new music for a future album, and so on.”

Mary Chapin has sold more than 13 million records in nearly twenty years with Columbia Records and is the only artist to have won four consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

"Mary Chapin Carpenter is a creatively evolving, mold-breaking national artist and beloved regional icon," said Daniel Wattenberg, Washington Times Assistant Managing Editor for Arts and Features. "We couldn't be happier to have her contributing to the national and local multimedia platforms of The Washington Times.
